Request for Citizenship

Before starting any request, verify that your state of residence falls under this Consulate’s jurisdiction.

Spouse acquisition of Lebanese citizenship through marriage

One year from the date the marriage is executed at the vital statistics department in Lebanon (not from the date of registration at the Consulate General), the spouse of a Lebanese national can apply to obtain Lebanese citizenship. Contact: (202) 939-6314 / registration@lebanonembassyus.org.

  • Complete the application form and legalize your signature before a notary public if unable to sign in person.
  • A recent family civil registry (بيان قيد عائلي حديث) showing the marriage has been registered in the Lebanese civil census for more than one year.
  • A true copy of the marriage certificate.
  • A true copy of the spouse’s valid passport (a Syrian or Palestinian civil registry record is accepted in lieu of the passport, if applicable).
  • A copy of a valid residency permit or entry visa.
  • Wife’s birth certificate (translated if not in English or French).
  • Two envelopes, stamped and self-addressed (USPS only).

  • $50 — money order payable to the Consulate General of Lebanon, Los Angeles
